The Billfish Foundation bestows Club of Excellence award to OCLTC Posted May 29, 2018 The Billfish Foundation will acknowledge the Ocean City Light Tackle Club in November 2018 with its Club of Excellence Award. The Ocean City Light Tackle Club and its members are very grateful for the TBF's recognition of the clubs history and dedication to billfish release fishing. |
70th Derby Results Well, it's a wrap. The Derby was a great affair with lots of typical OCLTC Derby drama. It started with IRMA affecting travel plans and 3 anglers dropped out. Jay Depotter, in the mix down in South Florida, actually made it up for day 2 and 3 of the Derby. Great effort! Danny Doane wins with 7 white marlin. He had three fish on day one, 3 fish on day two and 1 fish on day three. 4 of his fish were doubles! This was just enough to edge out Ed Joy and John Simmonds, both with six fish as well as Richard Barrazotto and Jim Motsko (who caught a pair of Blues on Day 3) also with 600 points. The fishing was slow for NC standards. But it turned on for day 2 and Depotter's arrival. A reward for the hurricane. It went right back to slow for most on Day 3. A Special thank you to both John Bailey and Jerry Lynn Bailey for all of their hard work. It was a wonderful event and everyone had a great time.
